Gro-Kawaii Accessories (2014) /Necklace

materials : human hair, rayon, stainless steel wire

Kawaii sensitivity is one of the original Japanese multifaceted cultures and is recognized throughout the world. The interest about Kawaii sensitivity attracts attention in Japan and is researched. The research field diverges into many branches including cognitive psychology, physiology, computer science, robotics, information science, design studies, art, fashion design, to list a few. Kawaii sensitivity has a case including sensitivity to the opposite. In Kawaii, its meaning includes grotesque and disgusting elements. The sensitivity is named Gro-Kawaii in Japan. I think Gro-Kawaii sensitivity can enhance love more than Kawaii sensitivity by adopting a grotesque motif. And also I think it offers value unlike the outlook on normal aesthetic appreciation to the user. It is a method for overtaking the feeling of grotesque and disgusting. It can say a method to surpass authority or an enemy. They encompass  Kawaii sensitivity and it changes to Gro-Kawaii. It is the structure by which to receive as Gro-Kawaii. I think that there are Japanese special aesthetics and "Wabi-Sabi" is the common denominator.

We shampoo and set our hair every day. Hair is important in many ways for us. However,  at the moment when the hair is separated from our body, we feel it is dirty or gross, and then we have a negative value for it. It can be seen that hair has the ambiguity of a sensuous image. "Gro-Kawaii Accessories" are focused on this ambiguity  and can decrease the dirty or gross reality of the hair which  is removed from the body. I expressed that the disvalues are changed to an affirmative value.

Hair Piece Jewelry (2014) /Necklace

materials : human hair,  stainless steel wire

"Hair Piece Jewelry" is created to pursue a creative design in material for ornamentation using hair.  I focused on the hair as the central theme itself.  First, I arranged the hair like cloth, then made a square and circular design.  "Hair Piece Jewelry" uses human hair.  Hair not only represents a body's production but also it embodies the emotion and inner being of a person.  I hope my art works give new values in accessory design and to users.

White tacca (2013) /Necklace

materials : alminum wire, rayon, resin

"White Tacca" are necklaces and rings using hair.  The design was inspired by plants from the genus Tacca.  Tacca are recognized by a long stem and structures that seem like long hair.  I'm interested in material for ornamentation using hair.  Memorial jewelry in Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries made use of hair.  In Japan, they didn't use in this way, but they used hair as a lucky charm in wartime.  Warriors would wear a hair of their family member or lover.  I think "White Tacca" is a new type of memorial jewelry for the 21st century.

37℃ in your hand(2010)/Ring

The artwork is made of living cells cultured on the surface of a collagen bead. I started to design and produce a simple ring using "Cells" with collaboration with scientists. The artwork might be a new and revolutionary discovery as a science. "37℃ in your hand" makes us imaginations of the start and end, and also mysteries in our life.
